Parc Reston- One and two bedroom condos within walking distance of Reston
Town Center

Parc Reston: Affordable condos within walking distance of Reston Town Center

Sam: Are there any 1 and 2 bedroom condos within walking distance of Reston
Town Center? I have looked at several properties inside Reston Town
Center’s boundaries and they were a bit more than I am prepared to pay.
I am looking for the best of both worlds of course. Do you have any
ideas?

Steve: Sam, I would suggest that we go visit some of Reston’s garden style condos at Parc Reston. This community is right across Reston Parkway from Reston Town Center’s Macaroni Grill Restaurant.

In fact you do not even have to cross Reston Parkway, there is
a tunnel under the road direct from Parc Reston. See the picture of the
tunnel to the left?

lso, see the Reston Town Center skyline to the right? I took that photo from the near the tunnel entrance.

Sam: What kind of price range are we looking at here Steve? I am not made of money. Also, could you post some pictures here for me to see how aesthetic this place is. I care about my surroundings you know?

Steve: From the beginning of February 2010 to the date of this posting,  the high price 1 bedroom 1 bath home in Parc Reston was $171k with the low price being $170k. The high 2 bedroom home went for $215k and the low was $181k. There are a number of floor plans that you can see at the Parc Reston’s main web site: Parc Reston

We looked at Parc Reston when we were purchasing this winter/spring and while they were nice we still felt they were a bit disconnected from town center. The units we looked at were very nice, but we ended up buying in Oak Park, which is great because it’s VERY close to Town Center and still fairly affordable. (Our two-bedroom was $235K.)

We were also a bit scared that the landowners at Parc Reston (which is part apartment community) want to tear down a chunk of the property and build a mid- to high-rise condo building eventually. I heard they don’t actually have the funding for it but you never know what lies in the future in terms of property development. Also with the new high rises at Fairway too, I didn’t know how the older condos at Parc Reston would compare to those in terms of price point in the future.

Anyway, just my two cents from a recent buyer. We also looked at Edgewater. It’s so interesting the properties you can find very close to RTC that are quite affordable. If I’d moved across the street to MidTown I’d be paying twice as much. 😀

Thanks for stopping by RTCanon! I will be doing a write up on Oak Park in the future. My goal is to write my way through Reston, community by community over time, providing a snap shot of what each is like, the market picture and schools and amenities. It will take some time but it is an enjoyable task.
